Hasn't changed. Still don't like either one of 'em. :biglol:

Same here... but the 10 minutes of Bob Barr (Libertarian?) that I heard had some potential. He mentioned that "environmentalist wackos had taken over the government."

My opinion is actually worsening for both candidates. Obama's blatant and increasingly bold Marxism is especially dis concerting. McCain's at least not as bold with his socialism. His indecisiveness seems weak.

Don't like either of them that much, but will vote Republican (McCain). Obama may actually be a better executive, but who knows.

The world situation seems to be quite dangerous lately and we get to choose between what I consider a pair of high school clowns to lead us. The media propaganda made this possible. It will likely be a rough ride ahead of us.
I choose McCain as the lesser-evil clown, but only because the alternative seems so much worse.

With the possibility of war in the Republic of Georgia drawing us into yet another conflict, the future of America is very scarry. How could we ever sustain another way on another front with no real leadership.

Here is my solution, vote for me.

1) Get out of all foreign wars.
2) Get to drillin' oil wells here in the US and build some new refineries and nuclear power plants.
3) Close all US military bases outside of the US except for those on US territory.
4) Put the US military along our borders to secure them.
5) Deport all illegal foreigners.
6) Make trading laws that are fair for US competition in them.
7) Encourage US owned business.
8) Get the government out of US owned business, farming, and energy. (BTW, there is no way to mandate new uninvented energy sources.)
9) Encourage local and state government to not look to the federal government for handouts.
10) Veto all bills sent to me that have "pork barrel" politics added to them.
11) Get the federal government out of the education system, allow local communities to run their own schools. (Here is an area where tax dollars could be better spent by local communities instead of them looking for federal handouts.)

Got some other ideas as well. :bigthink:

Here’s a few more planks for you, Tallen. These are not necessarily in any kind of order.

12. Repeal the Federal Reserve Act
13. Repeal the Income Tax
14. Do away with the IRS
15. Withdraw from the United Nations
16. Withdraw all financial support from the UN and UN created organizations
16. Withdraw from NATO
17. Void all UN Treaties
18. Repeal NAFTA and all other ‘free trade’ treaties
19. Abolish the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America
20. Withdraw from all world financial organizations
21. Withdraw from all United Nations organizations
21. Stop selling off America’s infrastructure to foreigners
22. Make it illegal to import any goods that are produced by ‘slave labor’
23. Order some new Navy Ships before we forget how to build them – we’re probably going to need them. I don’t think we want to order our Navy Ships from China.
24. Stop the NAFTA free trade highway
25. Eliminate fiat money.
26. Eliminate fractional reserve banking.
27. It is my understanding that we still control all of our coins and regulate their value. Therefore, we could create a new dollar coin. Coins actually have a low intrinsic value but they are still legal tender. We could then mint enough of these to pay off our international debt. After this we could then restore control of our money to Congress and WATCH THE THIEVES LIKE A HAWK. From this point on, if we are foolish enough to go into debt at least we will owe the money to ourselves instead of international bankers.

These are just for starters.

It just occurred to me that we could call this 'The Get Even Dollar'. On the back we could stamp 'Funny Money'. Actually, this coin would bear a small value depending on the metals that were used in the minting process. It would be worth somewhat more than our paper dollars. Our paper dollars are only worth whatever everyone's confidence is in our abilty to pay back our total debt. Does anyone seriously think that we will be able to repay all our debt back? Therefore what are our dollars worth besides the paper and the ink? The thing is we need to stop selling off our infrastructure for our own worthless fiat money to foreigners because we are in essence trading something that has a great value for something that is essentually worthless.

I don't see a single item on the list that should not be a part of "the platform". In fact, had a couple in mind when I wrote my post. Especially, protecting the American infrastructure and getting out of the UN. In fact, I think we should take the buildings and land back and give it to New York to help in the cost of the terrorists taking the World Trade Center down. And I will add, making a real determination in selling our demostic oil from new oil production on the world market to drive down the price. Too many American enemies are benefitting from that market to develop and fund those that are set against our distruction. It would be much cheaper to subsidize oil exports, rather than keep a military presence in foreign soil, especially in Europe, where America is looked down on, except when they need to get bailed out of trouble.

How about minting ceramic coins? I doubt they would carry much value for anyone outside of the US and they would be lite weight.

Oh Yeah, forgot to mention that Terri could help in the production. She has already shown her ability in the ceramic department. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_67.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYYYUS)

Tallen, after you get elected to be our new president you can urge congress to do a congressional study on the relative cost of whichever material to use in the 'Get Even Dollar'. I understand that congress is very good at doing congressional studies. I'm not too sure that I have much confidence in their answers, however. Which brings me up to my next recommendation.

I suggest that we increase the pay of each member of congress to an even $1 million per year. However, they must sign an ironclad contract in order to be able to recieve their pay. The first thing they must agree to is to STAY OUT OF CONGRESS!!! This will be one of the greatest money saving ideas that we can put into place. It will save us literally billions of dollars. Now I realize that it will be necessary to pass some new laws because things just come up from time to time. So what we can work out is to let them come in for a few hours on federal holidays only. The only catch is that for every new law that is passed they must take 10 laws off of the books. :BubbleGum:

BTW, thanks for the hugs.

Naturally we'll expect you (if you get elected of course) and them to start returning to the states some of the state's responsibilities that they have unconconstitutionally taken away. This whole process will take some of the burden off of congress and put it on the shoulders of the states where much of it belongs anyways. After all we wouldn't want to overwork the congress on these holidays. Besides, it's a lot easier to keep an eye on politicians in your own state capitol than way off yonder in Washington. Or should I say way off in the wild blue yonder. Perhaps you might even consider renaiming the nation's capitol to Yonderland, or perhaps the City of Oz, or maybe even La La City. I don't think George Washington would mind very much. Actually I think the old chap would probably be quite relieved. :bigO:

You know what? I know a little bit about George Washington. I mean I'm cetainly no historian - I mean let's face it - how can an engineer know much about history? BTW, I'm not even an engineer in the formal sense of the word. I did go to GA Tech for three years and majored in Mechanical Engineering. However, I mostly think of myself as a 'shadetree mechanic'. In other words, I've had a good bit of experince using imagination, bailing wire, and duct tape to keep our machinery running in our plants for the last 37 years.

George Washington happens to be one of my heroes and I know for sure that he would be deeply upset about what our nation has become. George Washington is a man that understood the sovereignty and providence of God. Whenever times get rough in my life I try to stay focused on the Lord Jesus Christ. However, my mind oftentimes wonders quite a lot so in human terms and because of human failure I also think on people like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Davy Crockett, Andrew Jackson, Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, Seargent York, George S Patton, Douglas Macarthur, Larry MacDonald, and Ron Paul.

All you have to do is go back to Valley Forge. I can't even begin to comprehend the suffering that went on there and how 'down and out' those poor patriots must have felt. It's places like Valley Forge that teaches us a little bit about the times in our history where the 'the rubber meets the road'. George Washington, with his little rag-tag army, was up against ol' King George's army of the British Empire. It was a world empire very much like the 'globalists' of today. George Washington was a man that knew how to pray and was also one who knew what the sovereignty and providence of God was all about. He knew the hole that he was in. It was a truly hopeless situation but the most important thing is that he kept his faith and held his ground. And so all of these other heroes had their own 'Valley Forges'.

Now, I know that many of you are yankees and will say that I'm biased in my list of heroes. You would be correct on that. My own great grandfather was shot at Chickamauga, Ga and carried the minnie ball in his leg for 45 years until the Dr's were able to figure out how to remove it without killing him. That minnie ball is now gold plated and is on the keychain of my 95 year old cousin who was a full colonel, West Point graduate, and heroe of WWII.

I want you to know that I have many union war heroes as well. I can honestly say that I don't have an enemy in this world. I also love Abraham Lincoln and even admire him. However, my main point is that I believe that we went terribly wrong in the War Between the States and that is the point in history where the federal government was empowered against the states and is now leading to our downfall as a nation because our founders never intended for us to be subservient to our government but intended for our government to be subservient to us. We the People is what it is all about. Our government is our servant and the Bill of Rights are our God given rights that will exist after the last patriot is put in the last grave.

Now, just so you don't think it's all politics with me. I believe that none of this stuff really matters in the end. God All Mighty is in charge of His universe and is in complete control of His creation. Man is nothing but dust in His balance and nobody can stay His hand. He will work all things out according to His good pleasure and we have all been created for His glory and all of us brothers and sisters are what we are only by the grace of God. However, in my humble opinion we're all going to get tried. We're all going to get a taste of what the phrase 'where the rubber meets the road' really means.

God Bless,

BTW, any of you who know about minnie balls will understand that they were very devistating to human bones and flesh. Most of the time if they hit an arm or leg directly they most often meant amputation of the limb and many times death due to infection. It is my understanding that some minnie balls were as much as 50 or 60 caliber. This was not a small shell. My great grandfather was shot in the leg with such a ball and carried it within his body for a great many years. He was from a long line of Baptist preachers and was himself a Baptist preacher. Obviously he was a cripple and walked with a cane for the rest of his life but he survived all of this. My cousin who is still alive knew him when he was a younger man. My great grandfather begot my grandmother after the War Between the States and she gave birth to my dear mother, Edna. It was my mother and my grandmother that taught me about God when I was just a child sitting on their laps. I didn't hear and understand then but I do now. But God was watching over me just the same. The point is that when I look back across my life I can see the sovereignty of God all over the place. My grandfather was a Roman Catholic strait from Ireland but he died when my father was only 5 years old. If this hadn't have happened I would have been raised a Roman Catholic. My grandfather was a staunch Presbyterian and he took over and raised my father. God did not intend me to be raised Roman Catholic so my grandfather died when my father was 5. I believe that anyone who cannot see the sovereignty of God in their lives is blind and dumb. God cannot leave anything to chance. The whole world was created for His pleasure and He works all things out according to His own council.

I see absolutely no gain in the USA playing with the world. I advocate near total isolationism- the country became great as a largely isolated entity, and the more global we go, the further down we slide.

I suggest you ammend the constitution to make real property taxes illegal. I'd rather drive on dirt roads and own my property than drive on highways and rent my property from local and state governments. To me this amounts to serfdom, only worse. I'd rather pay tribute to a land baron.

I don't have much faith in politics. To tell the truth I think that both the Republicans and the Democrats are both leading our nation to destruction. No matter who's in office the federal government just keeps on growing in power and 'We the People' just keep on getting weaker. We'll see how God works this all out but, in my humble opinion and speaking in human terms, I don't think that our founding fathers ever meant us to be loyal to any political party; they intended us to be loyal to the Constitution and from what I can gather most of them put God over the Constitution. I'll leave it all in God's capable hands because He'll work it all out according to the council of His own will. He is sovereign over His creation and nobody can stay His hand. We're just supposed to be pilgrims on this earth heading for a home that was promised to us and to be gathered into God's resting place where we will be able to worship Him continuolusly for all eternity. So, we're just passing through this world but a christian is still suppose to be the salt of the earth and taking up the cross is not going to be easy.

The Lord told us to render unto Ceasar the things that are Ceasar's and unto God the things that are God's. However, He also asked God the Father not to take us out of the world so He meant for us to enteract with the world. He also said that all of us will be persecuted because He was persecuted and that the world will hate us because it hated Him also. In a free nation, and even if not in a free nation, we have to enteract with evil if we follow the Lord. He also told us to live peacefully, inasmuch as it in our power, with all men. Nevertheless, we are still suppose to cling to what is good and turn away from what is evil. I'm not privy to what God's plans are, but from a man's perspective I think all of us christians are headed into great difficulty and much persecution. Hebrews is a good book to read in times of troubles because it tells us of many heroes of the christian faith. I really do think that we are all going to be tried very soon and the Book of Hebrews tells of a lot about the heroic efforts of our predeseccors.

Great posts bartalonis, not only did we get a good history lesson, but got some insight into your personal history. I agree, God's hand is very obvious in our lives when we look for Him. And not only should we be able to see his "working for the good", but often times when we look back at our darkest hours we see His grace working and preserving us from even greater things than we knew at those times. Some of the hardest times my wife and I faced have also been the closest times to each other and the Lord. In fact, we have said that those times were worth going through because of the relationships we had during those times.

BTW, my ancestory was not as bright as yours as many of them were gun fighters and criminals that terrorized the town, I've been told. My mother's side was a little different, her father was a share cropper and had a little church he built and preached in. I have recently been given a copy of one of the services in 1947 where some of my family give testimonies and then he preaches how God saved him as a young man, I think it was in 1909. I didn't know my grandparents on my fathers side. My dad bore scars his entire life from the beatings he got as a child. I can remember seeing those scars on his back when I was a little boy and remembering the sarrow of that. My dad was very loving and treated me very well so when I saw that, I couldn't comprehend such cruel acts.

I heard someone say one time, life is like nothing I have ever known before..., I think that is right. :medium-smiley-011:

BTW, I agree. Let the states govern their own business and get the federal government out.
