In fact, it was by most accounts the largest protest rally in the history of Alaska. The Anchorage Daily News (http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/525008.html) wrote that the rally drew an "estimated" 1500 people. Let me be clear: the organizers used a hand-clicker and counted at least 1,483 Alaskans, mostly women, who showed up to say that Sarah Palin does not speak for them.My theory is that, if the people of Alaska are protesting Palin, what does this say for people in America who are voting John McCan't/Palin. Should we heed their words?

There are 670,00 Alaskans, and this amounts to a protest of .002 of a per cent. Not so big of a protest.
You can protest about anything in America and come up with thousands that will join. This not a good scale to judge politics on. Judge according to the issues and how they speak to your heart.

I don't know if you read the artical, it says " largest protest rally in the history of Alaska" That's says a lot tallen.
"This not a good scale to judge politics on"What does that mean?
"Judge according to the issues and how they speak to your heart."
So these protesters don't know the issues and aren't speaking from their hearts?

Well it says that they were able to get 1500 to protest. I think after that one can manipulate that for one's purpose. We could just as easily say, even though this was the biggest protest rally in the history of Alaska, it is important to note that 99.997% of the population was there. If you can only get .003 % of the population of a state to voice themselves at the rally..., that says a lot QA. :bigthink:
What does that mean?
It means that we shouldn't use the number of people at a rally to judge politics. If we do that then all we should do is hold a rally for McCain and one for Obama, then decide who gets the bigger rally and vote for them.
So these protesters don't know the issues and aren't speaking from their hearts?
No, not what I said. Don't let protesters decide which candidates to vote for, base that upon the issues and your own heart. Something quite different.

Well, this is one of the highest profile issues in Alaska, thus the large number of people protesting. How do we know this isn't mostly a bunch of moveon.org people sent to Alaska from San Francisco?

That is what elections are about, protesters are still voters Tallen. Put it another way, if we have about 80 percent of americans rallying for Ron Paul and only 20 percent rallying for Obama who do you think has won peoples votes. of course it would be Ron Paul, but doesn't it mean enough to anyone that the bigger of the rally only means where their votes lies. For protesters and electrical votes are....still voters.

You could be right, but there isn't any notice on the site that says they went to alaska to protest. So therfore, I give you the answer, no. Until there is some evidence, then I'll stand corrected.

Remember you are only talking about .003% of the population of Alaska, and I highly doubt that all of them were from Alaska. So I don't see your point in this case. :bigO:

Someone told me that Palin only had an 82% approval rating in Alaska. If this is true, then perhaps we should be listening to these 18% to find out what is wrong with this woman.:medium-smiley-087:

Well, I'd really like to get some proof on that, cause that is an interesting statistic.

Yeah it's true that she had an exceptionally high approval rating as governor, it is easy to Google and get many articles that say this. Most of the articles say "over 80%", which is unheard of among governors.
I think she is a bright spot in politics and brings out the hypocrisy of most politicians. McCain, who I am not a supporter of, has done a brilliant campagn tactic by bringing her on-board his bid for President.

QA, my advice is to vote on the issues, and not all of this peripheral stuff.

I'm voting on the basis of hair style this year. Last election, I voted on the basis of dental work and head shape.

You should see the liberal left's reaction to her. We have a little rag here called "The Stranger" which stands as a good barometer ( about the only thing it's good for ). To say that they froth at the mouth is an understatement. They are *terrified* of this woman. I'd almost vote for McCain on that fact alone. So yeah...kudo's to whomever is running McCain's campaign.

Yea, I heard Michael Medved yesterday, and I guess there is some lib-wacko-comedian (Sandra Bernhard) that issued a gang rape warning to Sarah Palin. Here's the article:

"That's the sound of the Left working on the Change Gaaa-eeee-aaaang!"
(I need to send this idea to Rush, or Glenn Beck for a parody song.)
