Any of you had it done? I had my first eye done Thursday, and to me it's like a miracle. I've had severe astigmatism all my life and congenital-type cataracts. They've had a new lens out on the market for about 4 or 5 months that corrects the astigmatism, and it's a relatively cheap ($650/eye) addition to the basic surgery price. In other words the extra isn't covered by insurance...lol. Anyway, they kept telling me that since I'd never seen correctly my whole life, it would be an indescribable difference. Boy were they ever right. Within 3 hours of the surgery, even through the "filmy" sight you have at first, I was already seeing 20/25!! That's one of the fastest and best surgeries I've ever had. I get my next eye done the first week in November.

If any of you need this, I can't recommend it highly enough...the astigmatism lens I mean. Wow...modern technology certainly does have some great inventions :sparkle:

That sounds great Terri

Both my mother and my father had a similar procedure done last year, and they are both very happy with the results.

Everyone in my family (except my lucky sister) has a strong astigmatism, but I have no sign of cataracts yet.

That's wonderful Terri, I will pray for you that the next surgery will go well also.

Blessings.

Thanks everyone!! My stoooooooopid modem bit the dust yesterday, so I'm just now getting back my internet. I had no sooner got it back than my daughter's pup chewed through the power cord *grrrrrrrrr*. But hey, a little electrical tape and wire twisting, and here I am again!...lol.

Anyway, the eye is wonderful, no problems at all, and I can't wait to have the other one done. Yippee! (Isn't it wonderful/odd how God gives us things when we often "wish" something was other than it was...like my eyesight. And here, He's provided through the wonders of medicine and technology at a stage in life when I can fully appreciate it! Amazing the way He works.)

Had my second eye done this past Thursday. I can not tell you what a wonder this is to me. I thank God for His blessing of doctors and science and timing things out just as they should be. If I'd had this done a year or so ago, they wouldn't have had these replacement lenses, and this is just wonderful.

Now I have to get out of the habit of thinking I need to take my contacts out at night and reaching for my glasses first thing in the morning...lol. I think I can live with that!

That's truly wonderful, Terri. It is a marvel. I am blessed as well.

My wife had hers done about three years ago. She was asked if she wanted glasses to read with or long distance glasses after she had the op. She opted for reading which she then regretted. I noticed on the news last week that a local hospital is fitting a new type of lens which is varifocal so you can see both close and distance. She had them done under our National Health Service which did not cost her anything. She went in at 8.00 am and was home for lunch.
