I saw a piece of the news yesterday where a "gay" couple hung Sarah Palin in effigy as a Holloween statement. The reporter asked them if they thought that it was offensive and over the top. The "boys" said it was meant in humor and refused to take it down. They have the right to express themselves, freedom of speech and all.
I thought that someone in the neighborhood should hang a gay couple in effigy, and see how that was treated by the press and those who want to apply their double standards. In fact, it should be the "quite" utlra consevative guy that carries his concealed weapon regularly. After all, he has his rights to.

Were someone to hang an effigy of Barack Obama (a black man), there would be outrage, and rightly so. No consideration of freedom of speech would be voiced. These radicals should be made aware that such behavior is what fosters hate-crimes, and their behavior is little different than neo-nazis.
In fact, I believe that if we reflect on history, we may see a future for our country comparable to the fascist regime of Germany. Fascism was fostered by propaganda and all who opposed it were repressed. It rose to power during an economic crisis in Germany, where the Mark depreciated and unemployment was rampant. Particular groups of people, Jews and gypsies, were singled out to bear the blame for all ills of the country. The propaganda machine convinced an entire country to turn a blind eye to autrocity.
A particular group - Christians this time - are being singled out by the media, the political machine, and the various "special interest" groups. Joe Biden's outrage over a reporter's question of whether the Obama/Biden economic policies were communist/ socialist in nature betrays a man who does not know his history. It is not communism that I would fear.
Anyone who has studied WWII knows that it was the financial support of the USA for Britain and the Soviet Union that won the war. Stalin said that England paid in time, the Russia paid in blood, and the United States paid in dollars. It was because we were the strongest economy in the world that allowed us to pour troops and money into the allied cause to win the war and free the remaining Jews of the Holocaust.
If the United States takes such a radical turn, who, I wonder would come to our aid, or even be able to come to our aid?
We never seem to learn from history.

Yep, I agree.
It is scary to think that most of the world sees us as deserving when we are in trouble. They rarely, if ever, will come to our aid. I wonder what help would be offered from the Arab world, for instance. I doubt there would be much.

Someone at the U. of Louisville [or U of kentucky] did hang an effigy of Obama and a stink was raised, including the president of the U apologizing publicly.
