The more I hear about this "recovery plan" and about the spending in "the bill", the more disappointed I am in American politics and leaders.

Perhaps it's time for a new American Revolution from the grassroots of America. I am ready to join such a movement. :bigthink:

Let's have a Boston Tea Party.

That was great.

And some of the points I was making with my "buy us a house instead" plan seem to be popular. (Assuming, we are going to spend crazy amounts of money like this in the first place, and that we put a cap and other reasonable constraints on those mortgages that will get paid off).

Think about this.. When you bail out the lending institutions, and then they continue to collect on all of their outstanding loans, then only the lending institutions win.

When you pay off the people who owe the money to the lending institutions, not only are the lending institutions payed back and able to continue business at usual, but the same money can now be spent by people who used to be paying mortgages on other goods, services and etc.

This way, the *same* money goes back into the economy.

But I think I've said most of this before

I think you will get more takers if you make it a Boston Coffee Party.

Kind of feels like we are selling our national soul, does it not?

The European model has failed, so let's try to imitate it!

If we keep trying socialism, it will eventually work. :)

So long as you are in the ruling class, it works great.
