Thanks to a hefty tax refund, I finally upgraded to a digital SLR; a Canon D50. Way back when I got a first-generation Canon AE-1 (which I still have incidentally but probably will sell soon) which I used often. However film & development costs rose too high so my photography was limited to special occassions. And I really couldn't afford to experiment with f-stops and aperature settings which limited my learning curve. Now that I have a Canon D50, I can play around with all that and more with no cost to myself other than HD space. What's cool about this camera for me at least is that in full automode with the anti-shake feature on, it's almost impossible to take a bad photograph. I've got some plans on heading to the coast this Saturday and taking some photos.

First, let me welcome you to LAD. Blessings.

Second, let me show you the envy I have because you have a new camera. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_19_5.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm824MNUS) [/URL]

I wish I could up grade the old Pentax, early seventies vintage, to a new digital. Not even the lenses will fit the new stuff, and I have a ton. Sometime between way back then and today Pentax changed their mounting, and my old camera became a dinosaur. And now, with the digital age upon us, it is fossilized. Can't someone make a digital insert that would fit into the film compartment?

I'll look foward to seeing some of your pics. :L2:

At least you two have cameras. My wife is the shutterbug of the family so I never get to play with the silly thing.

Prolly best. We'd have a gallery of thumbs and fingers. :L4:

Welcome to LAD Beukeboom! Do you go by a different name on other forums?

Blessings

For whatever it's worth, I did get out and about for a couple of weekends when it wasn't as hot as it was this past weekend. I posted some of those photographs I took over on Panoramio (http://www.panoramio.com/user/1016490). I also have a lot of photos there that I took with my old Olympus point-and-shoot camera. Feel free to check them out and please leave comments.
