While I despise the very idea of all the bonuses and salaries being paid to executives of bailed out companies, I'm not really sure this is something that should be done. Where it could go from here is a bit scary.
Executive Pay Cuts (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091022/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obama_executive_pay)
As has been pointed out in the past, some of these bonuses are contractual things. Granted, it doesn't make sense to me how essentially bankrupt companies can pay the bonuses to begin with, but I'm not privy to the contracts. So is this another retroactive punishment? I'm a little bit stunned by some of the things the administration is doing right now.

I guess if you are going to take some money from the left, it's like taking money from the mob. From then on they own you. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_6_12.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm824MNUS)

I agree that it is a bit arbitrary. On the other hand the corporate structure is not exactly on the up and up either.

My favorite:
8. Jay Gould
When it comes to unscrupulous behavior, Gould makes Milken look like a sweetheart. A railroad developer and speculator, Gould sold out his associates, bribed legislators to get deals done, and even kidnapped a potential investor. He duped the U.S. Treasury, pushing up the price of gold and prompting a scare on Wall Street that depressed all stocks. After hiring strikebreakers during a railroad strike in 1886, he was reported to have said, “I can hire one half of the working class to kill the other half.”
THE STAT: When Gould died, his fortune was worth an estimated $67 billion in inflation-adjusted dollars.

That may end up being more true than we know.:L35:
