Wouldn't it be great if someone could come up with a netting device that would trap this stuff? Maybe they could recycle it and make it into shelving or playground equipment or something. I keep thinking that surely there is some kind of technology out there that could handle this.

I have noticed that the problem is much greater along the shores of third world countries. They don't have the money to clean up what floats up to their shores, and the awareness is much less because the common person doesn't have the resources to take care of their garbage. If it would get cleaned up we would have to pay for it. I am sure it is on Obama's list some where, since he doesn't have any trouble having Americans pay for stuff. And he probably blames the US for the problem anyway.

But your right, seems like a big net could be made so that folks could troll around and scoop up a lot of this.
