I just figured out how to do this (I know, I know, tune in Terri), and so I did a couple, but it isn't showing up on the person's rep thingy. I tried to do it again, but it says I must spread more around before I can give those people more. :crying:

What's the deal?!

It looks as though you have run into some limitations set by the program in its default settings. I have to change those settings in order for a person to, for example rate the same person twice in a row, or rate without getting rated, etc.

I will look into it more today and set them to something more to our need. :bigthink:

do I find rep points and read any comments?

Click "User CP" in the menu bar at the top and I think you will see it.

Right. Well, it shows any comments left (thanks Joe). Not everyone leaves comments, though.

I didn't put comments with the ones I rated. Maybe that's why they didn't show up on the person's "rep power." Experiment forthcoming...lol.

Terri

edited to add: Aha! I wrote a comment and it changed the rep power. Hmmm...wonder how long it will be before it lets me try adding again to the ones I've already tried. (say that really fast 3 times)

OK..., here is the break down.

I had to change the way Rep points were given out, Vbulletin was set to the defaults that come with the program. Here is how they are set now.

Every 30 days that you are a member you get 1 point.

Every 10 posts that you make you get 1 point.

Every 25 Rep points you get you get 1 point.

I set the Reputation to vote to 0. That was on 1, which meant you had to get points from someone else to vote. I think this is one that was causing you trouble, because your votes weren't being counted until someone gave you a vote.

You can give 100 points out over 24 hour period. That was set to 10, which probably was effecting you also. You could only give out 10 points in a 24 hour period. That is raised now so you shouldn't have a problem there.

Rep user spread was set to 2, which meant that you had to get 2 rep points before you could give a person you already voted for another rep point. I set that to 0, which means that you don't have to recieve votes from other members to give votes out to ones that you already voted for. That should help to.

I will be curious how this effects the rep points. :bigthink:

Blessings.

OK, I check out the point count and you should see comments and the counters on the rep power display go up now.

At least in theory.

Argh! Okay, I just continued the experiment I did on Joe. This is the second time I've tried to add to your rep power, but I didn't leave a comment, just clicked "approve." It isn't showing up on your rep power! On Joe's I left a comment and it showed up immediately. :crying: It seems like one MUST leave a comment in order for it to show?!

Terri

It may be because I am a Mod. I will check to see if mod's can get rep points. That may be a default some where.

I'll be back.

Ted?!?! Do you have yours set to "not accept" rep power or something? Even after I posted a comment it isn't showing up on your rep power:cry:

Should be working now. My counter displays 73 points on my User CP page, but displays something like 34 on my posts.

I don't know why.
