In the forum, on the right hand side of the screen where your name is there is a part of the screen that says "Rep Power". This is not the same as the Reputation points that you get when someone rates one of your threads. It is a rating that effects others that you rate, it is the amount of power that your ratings carry when you rate someone else. The higher this number the more influence you have when you rate someone else.

Now just below your Rep Power is a series of green lights that are displayed. If you drag you mouse over those green lights a little pop up will come up with some comments in them. These comments change as you get more reputation points. If your Rep Power goes down these comments will reflect negative ratings and as it goes up it will reflect positive ratings. These ratings are for everyone to see.

For instance, Yodas Prodigy has a rating "Yodas_Prodigy has a brillant future" if you drag your cursor over his Rep Power green lights, he has more votes and his Rep Power reflects the votes people have given him. While I have one green light, which reflects the votes you have given me, and my rating says "Tallen has much to be proud of".

So..., if YP votes for one of your posts, his Rep Power is 15 so he effects your score by 15 points. And He has two green lights that mean he has gotten more votes from member than I have. The thinking behind this is that those that are voting and receiving votes deserve a higher reputation and more power than those that are not voting and receiving votes for their post.

Blessings.

The factors that effect your Rep Power.

1) The amount of positive or negative reputation points you receive from others that rate your threads. Positive ratings give you a higher Rep and therefore you have more rep power when you vote for someone else.

2) Your seniority on LAD. Every 30 days you receive 1 rep point. This will cause your Rep Power to go up over time.

3) The amount of post you make on LAD. For every 10 post you make you get 1 Rep point, the more you post the higher your reputation goes.

4) The amount of Rep Power you have also gives you more Rep Power. For every 10 points of Rep Power you earn you get 1 extra for good behavior.

5) Once you reach 10 points, your Rep Power effects other users and your vote will either cause a persons Rep to go up or down. New users vote, but their vote will not effect the Rep Power of others until they get 10 Rep points and have posted 20 posts. You may see a positive rating on one of your post from a newbie, but it won't effect your Rep Power until they have posted 20 posts.

6) And lastly, the number of threads you start and how they are rated can effect your Rep Power. The more threads and higher they are rated the more Rep Power you have.

I guess all of this is to encourage participation.

Blessings.

Apparently, if you don't have 10 posts yet, you don't get rep points or power?

Yes, I set the minimum at 10. If you want I can make it lower.

Oh, that's up to you! I was just confirming. So, if I gave someone a postive comment, will it show up once they hit 10 posts, or is it lost?

It should show up when they hit 10 posts.
