Well, Diane said I will hear from someone soon. Very strange. If someone can see a reason I was banned, I would like to know. I wasn't even having any harsh words.

This kind of thing really irks me.

Um, if I remember right, you had a thread titled something about clarifying the word heresy didn't you...something like that? And in it you said something about schismatics? That thread isn't there anymore, or at least I can't see it if it is. And there's a new sticky post about the purpose of the board from Eric. *shrug* I dunno...

Yah, that's it.

He said that I was banned from that board because of that post.

Wow. It just seemed to me like you were being honest and trying to clarify your own understanding, and if I remember right, you did ask for correction if you were misunderstanding something. How very odd. Considering some of the other stuff over there that is pure garbage and hateful to boot, that's....really, really strange.

It does seem strange, but I think the argument I had with Eric about Church History was the end of the road for me. Notice, he totally stopped posting on that thread as his assertions were ridiculous.

Well, now he is has tried to get the last word in defense of Wesleyanism saying it DOES believe imputation of Christ's righteousness, even though he said he doesn't. I'm going to try to contact Matt and explain to him what is going on.

Do you mean even though he said it does?

You are playing against a stacked deck. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_13_11.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYYYUS) Reminds me of Three Card Monty.

Sorry you were banned, man. I don't think Eric is very fair when dolling out suspensions/bans. He allows blatant heretics and troublemakers to post continuously without so much as a warning.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the Church History topic. I see much pride in his posts. I think you rubbed him the wrong way by correcting him and "shutting him up". I don't know much about any specific wrongs committed by you, and from your style of posting and going from your history (as short as it may be) I can't imagine you posting anything worth being banned for. Did you see it coming? Did you get any sort of warning?

(the easiest way to win an argument is to eliminate your opposition -- especially if you deem them a threat)

I have been on and off carm for about 6 years, and have usually got along well with Eric. He even defended me when Matt was mad at me about something else. I was even a mod for a short time, but that drove me bonkers.

I was totally shocked. No warnings at all.

I'm pretty sure that big_bus guy reported me multiple times as I called out his full preterism as being apostate. That's dangerous medicine, and some were lapping it up.

I have never been banned from any message board, and have had much worse disagreements than this.

Are you sure you're not just having connection issues at your end?

LOL, no he banned me from that board only. I can even post on the evan board if I want to.

Brett,

The division between Calvinism and Wesleyanism is clear without need to suggest the Wesleyan view of soteriology is not grace through faith but by some imaginary scheme of works righteousness. Such a suggestion creates needless division and spreads disinformation based purely on one person's misunderstanding of Wesleyan soteriology. Oden presented the Protestant consensus of justification in his book The Justification Reader and the Wesleyan view is consensual with Protestant orthodoxy.

I see no reason why CARM needs to tolerate Wesleyanism labeled as heretical anymore than CARM needs to tolerate Calvinism labeled as heretical. As such, I'm pulling the plug on your posting privileges on the Arminian and Calvinist forum as I see you creating needless division on the A&C forum without a construction reason. You are free to post on our other forums until you give up on witch hunts and your threads move past a schismatic tone.

I see

So, in other words, "I can't convince you that I'm right so I'm banning you from discussing it"

seems fair

I don't know how many times i've seen someone state flat out that Arminianism is works righteousness only to have it turn into one flame war after another, with little to no mod intervention taking place ... I didn't realize Wesleyanism was that different.

The problem is that most Cs and As that call each other heretics do it from a lunatic fringe angle. So, they discredit themselves. I was trying to draw a clear line of orthodoxy that doesn't really include Arminians, and Eric didn't like it. I do consider them brethren, but I think those view are very dangerous to the Church.

But did you even call Wesleyanism heretical? I remember reading the post, but I thought you were saying some aspects of it would be considered heresy(according to orthodoxy), not the whole thing, and certainly not the people. I thought you made it clear that you considered them brethren. Hmmm...wish I could re-read it now...lol.

Eric wins no matter what cuz his finger's on the button.

Trav, did you ask because you didn't know, or because you were bringing it out in the open?

Now that I see you here, I'm thinking it was the latter, and my response was superfluous

Whose finger would you rather have on the button?

Eric or Hillary?

Any idea who the "guest" is viewing this thread?

hmm .. maybe I'm just cynical and paranoid, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were Eric.

This would be a very good thing to speak about openly because I lose confidence in his impartiality almost daily.

That is fine if it is. My conscience is clear. If it is Eric, email me at raderag@yahoo.com.

Actually I invited someone else here today. She may be lurking right now.

What could be interesting is that Matt has been debating with a women about "women preachers". Well, he said she is a heretic. Maybe he will have some sympathy if I can contact him, which is near impossible. I called his office and left a message.

If you want I can turn the feature on that lets you see who the guest are. I turned it off because it takes a moment to search the users when you log on.

Mostly, and I have mentioned this in earlier post, they are folks that have done bot searches on Yahoo or Google or a similar service. A lot of the hits we get that way are from other countries like Australia and out of Europe. We are getting upwards to 250,000 hits a month from folks that come and read certain things on the site. I am amazed at the amount of folks that come through this little insignificant website.

I saw this thread earlier and decided to be a CARM Boogerboo again. I thought for a moment the Big D had something to do with it and she just detests me... yes, I know, it wasn't the best intentions.

I learned some time ago that CARM management snoops it's critics sites or those they are uncomfortable with. So if you are not comfortable with that, well, be gracious in your comments. :big_teeth_2:
