Some folks teach us that we are saved by a faith in Jesus Christ, some teach that we are saved in Jesus Christ taught rightly.

Let me ask you...

Ted, I think the question is a bit loaded, plus I think it would have us reduce salvation to something less than it really is.

All the above, with justification being by faith alone. A faith enabled by the Holy Spirit, in response to a message about Jesus Christ.

Could someone please explain how the "By the Holy Spirit (less our faith)?" is a correct answer?
I understand the Holy Spirit's necessary role in our salvation, but the "less our faith" part of the answer seems to indicate that the gift of saving faith is not also necessary.

Well what I had in mind when I wrote that was that regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit. But now that a couple of weeks has passed and the conversation has been put on the back burner, I see your point and should have worded that differently. :medium-smiley-010:
