You must understand that according to the self-appointed arbiters of 21st century orthodoxy, we are 'false teachers.'

We have pointed out how CARM's insistence on their inerrancy bugaboo lead to bibliolatry. They won't debate it, but they'll penalize us points and call us false teachers.

God must be proud of all of us, wouldn't you say?

Can you explain the connection between inerrancy and bibliotary? Seems like quite a charge.

I just kinda stumbled upon LAD after seeing the link in one of Tallen's posts on CARM. I assume that has since been taken away... like everything over there.

Welcome to the club, KaptainJavy! Here's some bling for ya: :sparkle:

Anyway, LAD isn't the only CARM spawn...a few months ago CARM chat banned many Calvinists and TADA! HaveATulip (http://haveatulip.com/) ...welcome to the Club of POSITIVE CARM spawns :) ...and we're consistently reformed.

I've never been in any trouble at CARM and hold no animosity towards CARM as a ministry. The boards are however disheartening to me. I'm also one of the oldest LAD members. J. Baker is a more recent addition to LAD and is certainly no CARM reject. I don't believe LAD was constructed as a forum for CARM bashing, although it does occur, I don't believe it is the focus of the ministry.

Greetings KJ, and welcome to LAD.

LAD wasn't started as a result of CARM, and as graceshaker has reminded us in the past it is best not to rail against them on LAD. The history of LAD, it started as a Yahoo email group and grew over time. "Reformed Concepts" was a pretty active group and some of the discussion was of a pretty high quality and for the most part very informitive. LAD was started after Dr. Ted Letis asked me to give a more formal forum for the discussions and a place for him to leave some articles that he had written in a format that he could easily refer back to them. The idea is a more traditional reformational site and a place for teaching one another.

LAD had a slow start and has went through several evolutionary changes to where it is now. I don't see us as a CARM competitor, and I don't see LAD in a CARM or AntiCARM role, at all. We are not necessarily looking for a large forum membership, but would like to have a diverse enough membership to stimulate the mind with the result of Christian fellowship and growth of the members. But the way our membership is diverse, from Anglican to Weslyan, and a few odd balls sprinkled in.

Blessings.

If CARM bashing is a ministry, does that mean Ted is the pope?

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_22_25.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYYYUS)Naa, there are others who far surpass my ability to bash CARM. Some are coming close to perfecting a CARM bashing ministry. The atheist have a site that is even named something close to CARM, and they even say they hate CARM and what it stands for. They have people who impersonate Christians (Graceshaker comes to mind) and pretend they have turned into atheist and haters of CARM.

Far more sinister and Papal like than anything on LAD.

I guess I didn't mean if it was a CARM bashing site. Since no Christian site should ever be built simply to bash [although at times it has its place]. I was just wondering if this was the result of a sort of "protest" thats it. Its good to see an active chatroom thought. All the best guys, you should also visit HaveATulip for more info. :)

Well I for one am glad you are still about. Someone has to be just in case I slip my cams and start spouting nonsense.

I don't see this site as an area to "CARM Bash". It's good to be able to speak your mind without getting banned or starting a fist fight though.

It's very cool to see some of the folks I argue with over there on this board as well...where the tone is one of learning together rather than "who's frontal lobes are bigger".

A big Amen here. I don't want this to become a CARM bashing site either. Although it is good to vent once in awhile, and John B. keeps us in line here. I appreciate that very much. And I really like the friendlier feeling, where we can learn from one another.

So far, I don't like anything, but I'm good at stirring up trouble.

Say, sounds a lot like Mr. VW, doesn't it?

The CARM Creed:

We hold our own definition of truth to be self-evident that all theologies are created equal but those espoused by moderators are infallible and subject to no criticism on any plane. Any criticism otherwise is a false teacher.

Btw - I actually used to really like CARM until a couple of ponies went off the reservation and started flagging points for things said six months earlier.

Well when I first appeared on CARM it was a great place to hang out and sharpen some iron. It's simply out of control now (or maybe better stated in control by the Wesley-A's).

I suspect my access will be suspended today sometime. I called Eric out last night since he has the PM's set up as only one-way messaging. (IE he can PM me and criticize, but I have no way to respond or defend). In any case, the post where I called him to repentance has now been deleted.

The post I made where he gave me an infraction was not a bad post at all. He told me in PM's sometime back though that he was just looking for an excuse to ban me. This all started when he misused a verse from Matthew and I created a thread explaining the verse in context. He never responded to that thread and since then has had it out for me. Here's the thread I created. Keep in mind I made my response so it was not specific to Eric, but it was Eric's brutal misuse of the text that prompted me to start a thread to clear things up for people.

So I am guessing there is a private section for Moderators only where they post about other posters. I was looking at my rep points and saw that Moderator11 gave me rep points for a thread called "Monergism's rant from....". This thread is inaccessible, but i thought it weird that I could get rep points from a thread that I cannot access or post on.

I am guessing that Eric went crying for a pow-wow meeting to see about banning me or something, and created this thread?

Ted, do you know how these forums work? Like how I could get positive rep points from a thread I haven't been on before?

What happened there is that your thread was not deleted but moved to a private area where it was likely discussed and that is where you got rep'd.

Yeah but no thread existed that I saw called that. But cool I got rep points for something Eric was obviously hoping I would get banned for. Although he could ban me himself i suppose.

Diane has created a forum called Junk; and rather than have the moderators delete posts and threads we are to move them to the junk forum.

This way, Diane has a sort of paperless paper trail.

And yes, moderators can read the junk forum to see what other moderators have moved there.

You can set up forums for certain usergroups. For instance I have some usergroups set up on LAD; Registered Users, LAD Members and LAD* Members, Moderators, Administrators, Super Administrators, Banned Members, etc. When folks register they become a member and restrictions are placed upon them so they can only see certain forums and respond in them. In the case at CARM there are hidden forums that only Moderators and Administrators can see and post in. I would think your thread got move to one of these forums, and then discussed. And the rep points originated from there.

I got negative rep points for complementing Dr. Daniel Wallace, who is Maestrohs mentor. Although I don't always agree with Wallace, he is about as sound of a textual critic that exist in the world today. I complemented him and received 2 point warning with the threat of suspension for thirty days. Why? I have no idea and when I questioned it I was told I could be banned for questioning such things. :BigB:

Ha! Ha!!! you are kidding right? Don't tell me ... it was the woman in authority? (sorry about CARM bashing but this one was simply funny)

I don't know who gave it to me, it was a "Moderator1". It was soon after the inerrancy debate where we were called "false teachers". I had been talking to Eric, who in my opinion came to that argument with integrity, and had tried to show my position with several articles from textual critics and the current thoughts on textual issues. This was being done privately and through email. My suspicion is that I probably stepped on someones toes, I'm good at that, and then got that hit. But they put it on a very inappropriate post, Wallace would agree more with the CARM position and I believe he affirms inerrancy in the originals.

I got another from Diane S for -5 rep points, she was kind enough to let me know who gave that to me, for insulting or a personal attack on a CARM member.

Since then, I don't post on CARM as much and stay mostly on the Word-Faith Forum, cause it isn't worth fighting ignorance when some folks embrace it and venerate it as a divine attribute. :BigB:
