So, how much does a calf of that size weigh approximately?

Calves this size would be 50 lbs. or maybe a little less. The size of the average calf with most herds is between 60 and 70 pounds, and the bone structure is bigger. We're not real sure why these have always been such little bitties, but we've decided maybe the bull is not quite as large as we usually have. He's definitely not as large as the one with our other cows. He's no little thing, but he doesn't seem to have quite the bulk or height. The other kinda cool thing is that these little fellas are generally the same size as the others when it comes time to separate them off and fatten them for sale.

Yeah, and this is probably going to sound corny, but I get so invigorated watching the animals. It's just such a testimony to me of how God works in nature and how He orchestrates things according to a species or a breed or even with the wheat and grass and stuff. Very, very cool. It's like a little bit of Eden right here in SW Oklahoma...lol. Heck, I even get all revved up over tornado season! Of course, the destruction is awful and I don't enjoy that part, but man watching that sky boil and feeling the change in the barometer, the change in your physical sensations, and KNOWING that this is all part of God's handiwork...yeah...He is definitely and awesome God.

I had a brother move to OK, and one of the reasons that he moved back to MI was to get away from those storms. He was in Prescott, and said the storms would come out of TX and be feirce.

I am like you though Terri, I like to watch nature and especially those big thunderstorms. It is awesome.

Love the popcorns btw, they are cute.

Yeah, not everyone is cut out for this kind of territory. Kinda like I was when I lived in San Diego for a time. Those tremors??...uh, no, nope, no way...not staying there...lol. I'm used to the sky broiling and changing, not the ground beneath my feet shaking..nope, nope, nope...LOL. At least with a tornado you usually have warning and a way to escape! Plus, if you've lived here long enough, you can feel it in the air. There's a definite change in the atmosphere, even in the way your breathing works.

Thunderstorms are just fantastic.

lol...the popcorns really make my day. Yesterday when I took this I was wishing I'd had my camera out just a minute or so sooner. When I put out the feed cubes for them, some little ones decided they would run and romp in the opposite direction, so you had about a half dozen little fellas just careening around and the momma cows running after them, hot on their little tails bellering at them the whole way to herd them back toward the feeding area...LOL! It was hilarious. Made me think of a bunch of preschoolers being chased by their moms as they tried to catch them on the playground. Oh my..what a hoot.
